Cosmetic Surgeons Predict the Top 5 Aesthetic Trends in 2025

The world of cosmetic surgery has been changing rapidly in recent years, with social media providing a platform for procedures to go viral, the addition of GLP-1s to the cosmetic arsenal, and (most recently) increasing understanding of how natural treatments may address common cosmetic concerns. With 2024 behind us, here are our board certified cosmetic surgeons’ predictions for the direction of aesthetic trends in 2025.

1. Early facial rejuvenation for 40-somethings

Blepharoplasty (eyelid lift), brow lift, facelifts, and mini facelifts are starting to increase in popularity with patients in and around their 40s. Perhaps due to a preference for a natural look, proactive surgical procedures—sometimes part of a “menopause makeover”—are replacing some cosmetic fillers as an early way to stop aging in its tracks, and this trend is likely to grow in 2025 as patients continue to prefer a subtle, less “over-filled” appearance. This may be especially important after GLP-1-related weight loss. Tight skin is in, and fillers simply do not tighten the skin.

2. Increasing overlap between wellness & cosmetic enhancement

As cosmetic surgeons’ offices have become hubs for functional wellness treatments like hormone replacement therapy (HRT) and GLP-1 medications for weight loss, aesthetic physicians are becoming trusted resources not just for cosmetic enhancements—they are also, increasingly, experts in health and wellness. Even non-surgical devices for body contouring have the added benefit of strengthening muscle tone, and many surgeons are also offering wellness treatments to help patients prepare for and recover from surgery: think IV vitamin therapy, lymphatic drainage massage, and surgical preparation with weight loss medications. With a growing number of examples, the line is blurring between aesthetics and wellness.

3. Widespread use of nanofat, PRP, exosomes, & other biological techniques

Cosmetic surgeons are continually finding innovative ways to utilize the body’s natural healing process for aesthetic enhancement. You have likely heard of fat transfer, a natural dermal filler used to restore facial volume, and PRP, which promotes healing after procedures like microneedling. Adding to the list of popular biological treatments in 2025 are topical treatments with nanofat, taken from your body to improve results and accelerate healing, and exosomes, a lab-created substance with similar effects.

4. Smaller breast size

Oversized breasts appear to be on the decline. Whether for aesthetic or practical reasons (or both), women are asking for a smaller breast size, accomplished through breast reduction, breast implant removal, or “mini” breast augmentation with smaller implants or fat transfer. Following the same trend, more women are opting for a stand-alone breast lift after childbirth or weight loss to create a perkier, lifted breast shape without adding volume.

5. More body contouring after weight loss

Weight loss with GLP-1-type medications continues to provide powerful transformations for patients of all ages. Yet, for those who reach their goal weight in 2025, many will find they are left with loose skin in the midsection, thighs, arms, or face. Skin-tightening body lifts, thigh lifts, arm lifts, facelifts, neck lifts, and other post-weight loss body contouring surgeries have been on the rise for this reason, and cosmetic surgeons expect these procedures to continue to grow in popularity this year.
